Bitmap is looking to expand our coworking facilities by building a whole new addition. Well be adding approximately 2700 square feet with lots of natural light. In addition to more co-working space, we want to use the new space as a gallery to show off work from local artists, designers and photographers.

The new addition will also give us plenty of space for more classes. Currently we fit small classes into our conference room or our front area (where weve got a nice big projection screen), but out current space is a bit narrow and wed like people to be able to spread out a bit more, with room for desks during classes as well. Well be offering courses on IP Law, Business Strategy & Planning, Social Media Marketing, Branding & Advertising, Digital Photography, Photo Retouching, Video Production, Compositing, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Development (PHP, Ruby, WordPress, iOS, Android). We hope to open the new addition by the end of 2012, but we can only do it with your help.

Bitmap isnt much of a for-profit business: we receive enough income from our member fees and our extended services (printing, conference room rental, etc.) to cover our basic costs, but this doesnt provide us with much income to expand and we need to! Our full-time desks and private offices are full, and weve had to squeeze in a few extra desks for additional members who have needed full-time space. Wed really like to be able to get more members in here, but that has costs associated with it knocking a hole in a wall, putting a few more doors in to our expanded space, that kind of thing. This is where you come in.

Help us reach our goal and well be using your funds to provide services to the NYC creative community at large. Your investment will help us cover our initial setup expenses, including construction, office furniture and our initial rent deposit. In return, were offering access to our coworking space and equipment, or access to courses, at significantly reduced cost and some free stuff!

Well also be hosting a private, invitation-only event in the new space for everyone who invests with food, drinks, and some rockin tunes.
